Hey, nerds! Time for another craft! I saw a picture of this on the internets somewhere and decided I could nerd it up. Even though it’s crazy simple it does take time a patience to get done. The best part is you probably have everything you need already! Let us craft!
What you’ll need:
- Box cutter or X-Acto knife
Once you decide what word you want displayed on your wall you’ll need a piece of cardboard. How big really depends on the word and how big you want the word. I just used the top to an old paper box I had lying around.
Next, sketch out the word you chose. I chose the word “Frak” because it’s my favorite curse word from a TV show. I also think it’s funny when these crafts are made with dirty or inappropriate sayings. I’m so very mature.
Now you’re gonna cut out the letters. You can use your scissors for this (if they’re sharp enough) but I found it easier to do most of the work with a box cutter and use the scissors for smaller more detailed cutting.
Start wrapping the yarn around the word, making sure to leave no gaps. This step will take longer if you have more complex letters. Letters with curves or holes will take longer than straight lines.
Keep wrapping. If you run out of string just make sure the ends are secure and won’t stick out where they can be seen. Just keep on truckin’ until all of the letters are wrapped! Hang up and enjoy!
And that’s it; you’re done! Time consuming but easy! I loved the look of this so much that I decided to make one for my fellow Nerdy Chick, Angie, who had her birthday last week. I thought long and hard for the perfect word to capture her essence and I think I found it.
And that’s it; you’re done! Thanks for hanging with me and be sure to use #6NCDIY if you make this craft so we can see what you come up with! This makes me crack up every time I see it because it looks so nice but is technically a naughty word. Hehe. I’m an adult. What’s your favorite bad word from a TV show!? Let us know in the comments!
